Jan Verbeek was born in Bonn, Germany in 1966. After studies of Art History, Literature and Communication Research at the Bonn University he studied Video Art and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf in the classes of Nan Hoover and Nam June Paik (Meisterschüler), followed by postgraduate studies of Audio-Visual Art at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne.
Jan Verbeek’s work is shown worldwide in numerous festivals and museums and he received international art prizes. Many of his works are in public collections, e.g. his film On a Wednesday Night in Tokyo at the MoMA, New York.
